Matcha has long since arrived in Dortmund. The bright green tea from Japan inspires with its intense flavor, its special preparation and its centuries-old tea culture. At this special event, high-quality Japanese matcha meets carefully selected chocolates from all over the world. A delightful experience for anyone who wants to consciously discover tea and chocolate.
This event is a special collaboration with Giusi, who will share her great passion for tea and her in-depth knowledge of the tea world with you. On her travels to Paris, Amsterdam and London, she got to know modern tea concepts as well as Japanese cafés and brings these impressions and inspirations to Dortmund.
Together with Giusi and me, you will delve deeper into the world of matcha in a relaxed atmosphere. To begin with, Giusi will give you an introduction to the origins, production and special features of this Japanese green tea. You will learn how matcha is made, which cultivars (tea varieties) are used and how they influence the taste and character. We will also talk about how to recognize high-quality matcha, what to look out for when buying it and the differences in quality and taste.
Afterwards, Giusi will prepare the Ceremonial Matcha fresh for you as Usucha with a Japanese bamboo whisk. We will taste the tea together and take time to consciously perceive its aromas, texture and intensity.
We then turn our attention to the interplay between matcha and chocolate. We will taste some of the best chocolates in the world and show you how tea and chocolate can be combined in a targeted way. You will learn simple tasting and pairing techniques and discover how flavors change when tea and chocolate are tasted in different sequences.
Finally, a special matcha highlight awaits you from Giusi: a little surprise that we don't want to reveal at this point.
