MONSIEUR IBRAHIM UND DIE BLUMEN DES KORAN

Monsieur Ibrahim has always been there. It is impossible to imagine the Jewish quarter in central Paris, where his store is open day in, day out, without the strange Arab man with the small goods store. When the teenager Moses tries to steal something from Monsieur Ibrahim's store, he is confronted with a difficult task - Monsieur Ibrahim seems to be able to read minds. Moses and Ibrahim become friends and the teenager gets to know a whole new world, full of beauty and love.

A touching story about an unusual friendship, two worlds that find each other and that leads to the roots of Islam.

With MONSIEUR IBRAHIM AND THE FLOWERS OF KORAN, the WBT is continuing its long history of staging a play by French author Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt. Schmitt's ZURÜCK AUF ANFANG was last staged in 2016 as a German-language premiere. Tanja Weidner is staging the tragicomic road trip as the first solo piece for ensemble member Johannes Langer. Schmitt's literary work is a popular play and was filmed in 2003 with Omar Sharif. The play is part of a trilogy about the unifying spirituality of the world's great religions.
