Dartmoor, England. In the year 1900.

The eccentric Sir John Staple invites guests to dinner at his remote estate to unveil a world first in criminology: the steam-powered "deduction machine". Even Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of Sherlock Holmes, has arrived and is to become an ambassador for this marvel, which is to take the thinking out of Scotland Yard in future.

But suddenly a murder occurs - and the machine malfunctions. A deadly game begins from which no one can escape. Conan Doyle has no choice but to become an investigator himself in order to stop the disaster.
