In recent years, Greek pianist, composer and bandleader Tania Giannouli has established herself as one of the most distinguished and independent personalities on the international jazz scene. Based on her classical training and a distinctive improvisational style, she has developed a musical language that combines lyrical delicacy with compositional power - open to cultural influences beyond all genre boundaries.

Her multi-award-winning releases on Rattle Records and collaborations with renowned musicians worldwide have met with a broad international response. She was recently honored as "Rising Star Pianist of the Year" in the renowned DownBeat Critics Poll.

In this concert, Giannouli presents her current trio program - together with trumpeter Jean-Paul Estiévenart (or Jakob Bänsch) and oud player Kyriakos Tapakis. This unusual line-up creates an unmistakable sound: a finely interwoven interplay that effortlessly crosses the boundaries between East and West, new music, global music and jazz. The trio combines powerful improvisation, poetic timbres and profound compositions to create an atmospheric, highly concentrated concert experience.
