Interactive exhibition in the belly of the ship

The exhibition ship MS Wissenschaft is starting its tour in Berlin again this year: from May 7 to 10, the ship will be moored at Schiffbauerdamm, between the Friedrichsstraße railroad bridge and the Marshallbrücke. On board, everything revolves around the topic of medicine of the future. Free admission.

How can artificial intelligence help to detect bone fractures? Which cancer therapy protects our healthy cells? How can we use health data to treat each person individually? And what does medicine look like that takes greater account of differences between the sexes? These are the questions addressed by the exhibition on the MS Wissenschaft in the Science Year 2026 - Medicine of the Future.

Visitors can get hands-on with around 30 exhibits in the belly of the former cargo ship. For example, they can test medication on an artificial organ, measure their heartbeat with a camera or virtually immerse themselves in the operating theater of the future. Visitors are also invited to explore the latest research on diseases such as dementia, diabetes and endometriosis at three stations. In addition to German, the exhibit texts are also available in English, Polish and plain language.

On Friday, May 8, 4 - 5:30 pm, the panel discussion Dialogue on Deck: Opportunities and Risks of Gene and Cell Therapies and on Sunday, May 10, 11 am - 12:30 pm, the panel Dialogue on Deck: From Treatment to Prevention - How Molecular Research is Changing Medicine will take place.

The exhibition is open every day from 10 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. (May 7, 2 - 5 p.m.) and is recommended for ages twelve and up. The MS Wissenschaft is organized by Wissenschaft im Dialog on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space. The ship tours 36 small and large cities in Germany, Poland and Austria between May and September. Further information about the visit can be found on the MS Wissenschaft website.
