Munich Machine
A utopia in memoriam Klaus Lemke by Albert Ostermaier

A white sausage-shaped UFO lands in front of the Bavarian State Chancellery: movie or reality? Filmmaker and asphalt cowboy Klaus Lemke joins an extraterrestrial AI on a fast-paced journey through Munich's history in search of what the city once was and could perhaps be in the future.

Albert Ostermaier's new play is a loving homage to the film poet Klaus Lemke, who died in 2022, and at the same time a hymn to and a reckoning with his home city of Munich.

"Here Munich, my strip club, Schillerstraße, Klassiker, Goethestraße, Gomorra and Paradies, techno, punk and Zwiefacher, protest and party, Bayern and Babylon, Gerd Müller and the Bomber, everything you could never think of together stands here side by side like one fitness machine next to the other."
