The literary meeting as an echo of the French literary season, with the France Center of Freie Universität in cooperation with the Institut français Berlin!

Every year, the Center for French Studies at Freie Universität, in cooperation with the Institut français Berlin, organizes a literary gathering to celebrate the French literary season. This event is the ideal opportunity to get to know new publications and trends in contemporary French literature - whether you are a reading enthusiast, a student or work in the book industry.

Ulrike Schneider, Professor of French and Italian Literature (FU Berlin), and Jürgen Ritte, Professor Emeritus of German Studies (Université Sorbonne Nouvelle), literary critic and translator, together with invited experts, will discuss outstanding new publications, award policies and current and sustainable developments in contemporary French literature. This year, the panel will be enriched by the participation of Lena Däuker (Carl Hanser Verlag), who will contribute a perspective from the book market.

Together, they will look at the diversity of new publications and analyze the award-winning texts of the 2025 literary season in order to offer participants a well-founded and stimulating read. The event will be held in German and broadcast live, with the audience having the opportunity to ask questions and discuss with the speakers.
