Two years have passed since the 4th Shinobi World War and our heroes gather to celebrate. But a new threat is already waiting for them: The moon is about to destroy all life on Earth, and as it turns out, the danger is no accident. The mysterious, hate-filled Toneri Otsutsuki has made it his mission to wipe out humanity. When he kidnaps Hinata's sister, Naruto and his team set out to rescue her. But it seems he's actually after Hinata herself, whom he calls the Byakugan princess.

Naruto, now the seventh Hokage of Konoha, is now fully dedicated to training the next generation of shinobi. During the chunin selection test, the new shinobi have to prove their skills. Among the participants are Sarada, Sasuke and Sakura's daughter, the mysterious Mitsuki and Naruto and Hinata's impetuous son Boruto, who takes after his talented father but turns away from him in frustration. Sasuke, who is actually on a mission, appears to Naruto to warn him of a coming danger. A short time later, Momoshiki and Kinshiki Otsutsuki burst into the trials to kill Naruto. When he disappears, Sasuke, the five Kage and Boruto set out to find Naruto and defeat the enemies.
