With Elton John behind her as a fan, support for acts such as Joy Crookes and Nora Jones and regarded by audiences and critics alike as one of the most exciting new voices in the UK, Nectar Woode has made something of a flying start in the music world. And it's no wonder: when the British-Ghanaian soul singer takes to the stage, it's as if a long, warm embrace spreads across the audience. The positive energy and light-footedness emanating from the singer's bell-bright, life-affirming voice is literally infectious and gives Nectar Woode's retro pop/soul design a personal, friendly touch. After moving to the British capital London to study, Nectar slowly but surely found her way into the music world through open mic nights and smaller band projects. In 2021, the British artist began releasing singles sporadically. The tracks, which were usually self-produced, written and sung, were quickly well received. The first major breakthrough came with the song "Good Vibrations", released in 2023, in the course of which music legend Elton John, among others, came out as a fan on his show Rocket Hour and compared Nectar Woode to singer Nina Simone. In addition to the captivating sound, it is above all the content that has made Nectar's music so special from the very beginning. Themes such as origin, identity and self-discovery are addressed against the backdrop of the singer's British-Ghanaian roots and, in the latest EP "it's like i never left", are linked to Nectar Woode's experiences on a trip to Ghana. In addition to her own music, Nectar is also a radio presenter on the renowned Women in Jazz platform, where she champions female and non-binary soul voices. She herself is regarded as one of the most up-and-coming artists in her genre, and her previous single and EP releases are a sign of great things to come. As do the renowned live performances that Nectar Woode can already boast in her young career: From the Great Escape Festival to the legendary Glastonbury, the singer has already played slots. So it's high time for solo concerts too, which Nectar Woode will be enriching us with at the end of May. The soul singer is also coming to Germany for a stop at Berlin's Mikropol.
