Difficult to describe, OH NON is a quintet at the crossroads of different styles, offering a reinterpretation of alternative rock from the 70s and 80s (B-52's, Sonic Youth, Nina Hagen) as well as idiosyncratic French music (Brigitte Fontaine, Stéréo Total, Les Rita Mitsouko). With an expansive universe, equipped with its own logic and symbols, the aspects of cheekiness, nonchalance and vulnerability lurking in all of us come to light. The pieces reveal urban and metaphysical fears, between mockery and breaking out of oneself. The lyrics, written exclusively in French, take an ironic look at society, the party scene and interpersonal relationships. As part of the French musical landscape, without knowing exactly where they belong, OH NON unites a diverse audience - from the grumpy to the shy - around values such as sharing and inclusivity. From humming to scat to noise, from screams to melody: here we return from the past to traverse the present.
Their debut EP was released in June 2024, followed by the surf-rock single "Caïman" in May 2025, accompanied by a music video telling the story of a Parisian summer in which a woman walks her caiman on a leash. The band continues its creative momentum with the release of "Cette fleur là" on February 26, announcing the arrival of its second EP of nine tracks, "Dans le salon". The release party is scheduled for April 22 at Petit Bain in Paris.
OH NON performs live in Paris (La Maroquinerie, La Boule Noire, Le Point Éphémère, La Bellevilloise, La Marbrerie, etc.) as well as in other regions of France such as Brittany and the Basque Country and internationally (Bilbao, Vienna, Berlin, Freiburg, Zurich, Amsterdam, Sevenum, Grauzone Festival). The band now also organizes its own multidisciplinary events with a brutal cabaret character; the fourth edition took place on 21 October at Point Éphémère in Paris.
