The oceans connect us all - our histories, our cultures, our futures. But their future is at stake: climate crisis, species extinction, pollution, geopolitical tensions - all of these threaten the oceans, their creatures and ultimately ourselves. The new special exhibition "Ocean Futures" asks how we can work together to ensure fairer and more regenerative marine futures - locally and globally.
The exhibition marks the start of a new format for international exchange at Futurium: together with The Mind Museum in the Philippines, we are opening up a dialog between the global South and North. The focus is on a country that is one of the most biodiverse in the world - and at the same time one of the most affected by climate change. The exhibition concept and exhibits are being developed in close cooperation with the partner museum, which is also showing its own exhibition on the topic.
What can you expect at the Open Lab evening?
We will approach the questions of tomorrow in interactive exercises and during a joint visit to the special exhibition:
Be inspired by the expansive installation by Filipino artist Leeroy New - a speculative future world that is partly reminiscent of a huge mangrove forest and partly of an artificial island. A place of imagination, of listening, of negotiation.
Everyone who wants to share their view of the sea, discuss it and shape the future together is invited - across generations, creatively and openly.
The future is for everyone! The Futurium wants to be accessible to everyone. If you have any other access needs, please let us know. We will try to fulfill them: info@futurium.de
Here you can find all information about accessibility.
Photos and videos will be taken during the event. If you do not wish to be photographed, please let us know in advance.
You will need a ticket for this event. Click here to go to the ticket store. Due to the limited number of seats, only one ticket per person can be booked.
Every Thursday it gets creative in the lab. You will learn about methods such as design thinking or future storytelling, can try out 3D printers and laser cutters and take a look behind the scenes of the Lab projects. There's something new every week.
