People of Song. Namibisch-deutsches Musiktheater

In the organizer's words:

Aniros would like to share her music with the whole world, but her father's and grandmother's distrust of strangers blocks her path. When a stranger travels to her village, long-hidden truths are revealed that shake her family and community. The encounter forces her to confront the past and find new paths for the future. The past, loss and forgiveness come together in a gripping story.

People of Song is a joint project by a Namibian-German artists' collective that combines music, drama and choral singing to create a rousing work of art. Based on research with Namibian cultures and in the phonogram archive of the Ethnological Museum Berlin, the music theater tells of an intensive transnational collaboration that overcomes borders and releases creative energies.

At its heart is the shared vision of using art as a powerful means of making socially relevant issues such as memory, identity and change visible. People of Song is much more than a music theater project - it is a polyphonic cultural dialogue that touches, moves and inspires reflection, polyphonic, emotional and highly topical.

A project as part of the Windhoek-Berlin and Windhoek-Bremen city partnerships.

In cooperation with Kulturprojekte Berlin and with the support of the Lotto Foundation Berlin.
