On February 24, 2022, the German public wakes up from its geopolitical slumber. With Russia's invasion of Ukraine, war returns to Europe and the notion of a "turning point" emerges. While some are talking about "wariness", others are advocating a pacifist position.
Is it morally and philosophically justifiable to ask individuals to die for the state? Does the geopolitical situation demand that compulsory military service be revived? Is pacifism ultimately naive because it is only cheap in times of peace but no longer appropriate in an emergency - war? Or is it only then that it becomes a relevant attitude?
These questions will be discussed by military historian Sönke Neitzel, who believes that an attack by Russia on NATO territory is likely, and philosopher Olaf L. Müller, who calls for a "pragmatic pacifism". Moderated by Christoph David Piorkowski.
