Philosophisches Café: Sind Demokratie und Kapitalismus dasselbe?

In the organizer's words:

After the collapse of the planned economy and the authoritarian states in Eastern Europe in the 1990s, it seems more certain than ever: Democracy, with its promise of freedom, and capitalism, with its assurance of prosperity, go hand in hand. We will examine this idea together: What exactly does it say, where does it come from, to what extent is it true? And, should there be potential for conflict and tension between the capitalist economy and democratic self-determination, how do we deal with it?

The speaker studied philosophy at the universities of St. Petersburg, Wuppertal and Prague. Since completing his Master's degree in "EuroPhilosophy", he has been working on his doctorate at the University of Wuppertal.
