Púdlakova/Flaig/Meissner

Klára Púdlakóva - bass
Erik Wie Flaig - drums
Vincent Meissner - piano

In July 2024, the three musicians Klára Pudláková (double bass), Erik Wie Flaig (drums) and Vincent Meissner (piano) met for the first time as part of the International Jazz Platform in Łódź (Poland) - a festival with a five-day workshop for young female musicians from all over Europe in the field of jazz and improvised music. The intensive musical exchange and playing together in the workshop ensembles gave rise to the idea of organizing a tour of Germany as a trio for the coming year. The band members currently live and work in Prague, Trondheim and Leipzig. In this newly founded project, they bring together their different musical backgrounds and individual forms of expression to create a dynamic, multi-layered world of sound. Their music is created both freely in the moment and on the basis of a repertoire of contemporary jazz arrangements and original compositions by all three members.

Klára Pudláková is a jazz double bass player and composer from Prague. Her main project is the string ensemble MAOMAH (Music Army Of Mystery And Love), which released its debut album Platoon of Love. With the band Uthando, which she founded in 2019, she devotes herself to experimental jazz and free improvisation. Together with singer Anežka Matoušková, she is developing her own folk-jazz world as part of a lifelong collaboration. Together with her brother, she explores the connection between contemporary classical music and traditional jazz in the band Pudlax. Her music can be heard on the following albums, among others: Platoon of Love (MAOMAH, 2024), 11mg (Pudlax, 2024), Za kousek něhy (Avokaduo, 2020), Zmatená Zmatená (Avokaduo, 2022), Enter the Avoid (Molotow Moloch, 2018), Uthando (Uthando, 2021), Nenutits (Uthando, 2022). At the Krokus Jazz Youth Competition 2021 she received a special prize for her performance with the trio Henya and Uthando.

Erik Wie Flaig is a 21-year-old jazz drummer from Norway, born in Rottweil (Germany). He is currently studying at the Jazz Institute at NTNU in Trondheim. With a background in classical percussion, Erik approaches the drums with a mixture of technical precision and free improvisation. He has had the opportunity to play in various ensembles and has gained experience in both traditional jazz contexts and experimental projects.

Vincent Meissner, born in 2000, is a pianist and composer from Germany. Growing up in a small village in Central Saxony, he discovered his instrument at an early age and found his passion in jazz, which he made his life's goal. At the age of 16, he moved to Dresden to attend the Saxon State High School for Music, where he continued to deepen his enthusiasm through constant discoveries. His influences developed from Andrew Hill, Geri Allen and Marilyn Crispell to Craig Taborn, Vijay Iyer, Kris Davis and German jazz pianists such as Pablo Held, Achim Kaufmann and Joachim Kühn. For Vincent, the journey was the goal - and that remains the case to this day. He remains a seeker and explorer, also in the field of contemporary piano music. He has been studying with Michael Wollny and Frank Chastenier at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Leipzig since 2019 and currently lives and works in Leipzig. With his trio - consisting of Henri Reichmann (drums) and Josef Zeimetz - he has performed in renowned clubs and at festivals throughout Europe over the past five years. His third studio album Eigengrau will be released in July 2025 on the renowned ACT label.
