"Rainbirds Through The Web Of Time" - 40 Years, One Voice.
At the end, with Allen. The anniversary tour with an extended original line-up.
In search of a good ending, "Through The Web Of Time - 40 Years Rainbirds" sees one of the most important bands in German pop and rock history return to the country's stages for some exclusive concerts.
With songs such as "Blueprint" and "Sea Of Time", Rainbirds created timeless classics for the eternal songbook of pop. The focus is on Katharina Franck, the charismatic singer and author of these timeless songs and lyrics, whose unmistakable timbre has become the band's trademark.
With Beckmann (bass), Wolfgang Glum (drums) and Rodrigo González (guitar), the line-up from the founding period is almost perfect. Pianist, composer and long-time Rainbirds member Ulrike Haage, who was awarded the Albert Mangelsdorff Prize for her outstanding solo work, is also part of the band. Electric guitarist Werner Neumann, an indispensable companion in Katharina Franck's musical cosmos, and drummer Dominique "Gaga" Ehlert, hyper-professional and warm-hearted, complete the line-up. "These will be the best Rainbirds ever," promises Katharina Franck.
Through The Web Of Time is by no means just a nostalgic look back. As a musical journey through the Rainbirds' song history, the setlist will of course include the great classics, but also formative works from the Rainbirds' subsequent years. Ulrike Hage's and Katharina Franck's literary references, their film, theater and radio play compositions and, again and again, Franck's examination of appearance and reality and the simultaneity of past, present and future.
The band's heterogeneity, their most striking common trademark from the very beginning, shines brightest in this expanded line-up. In Berlin, Bremen, Bochum and Siegen, Rainbirds will also bring the young singer-songwriters Lina Maly and Willow Parlo on stage, who will each reinterpret a Rainbirds song. In Munich, percussionist FM Einheit joins the band for three songs. Together with Haage and Franck, he formed the group Stein in the 1990s and added his sounds to the 4th Rainbirds album "In A Different Light".
Highly exciting variations of the already multi-layered Rainbirds repertoire turn every concert evening into something unique: Rousing, touching, stirring, uplifting and thoroughly alive.
Quotes:
Katharina Franck:
"Rainbirds were a highly heterogeneous group right from the start, driven by a young woman, me, who was looking for her allies. That was, without me knowing it at the time, the blueprint for my life. So if we can make music together again for a few great moments 40 years after our first performances together and an audience of old and new fans can experience this live with us, it will certainly bring a little peace to a world shaken by many internal and external conflicts. Let's be allies!"
Wolfgang Glum:
"In the spring of 1986, I met Katharina Franck and Beckmann in a practice cellar deep in Kreuzberg, and the three of us, extremely different characters, began to work intensively on Katharina's songs. (...) Despite the split of the band's original line-up in 1989, the song 'Blueprint' in particular has held its own in the radio landscape to this day, and I'm always happy when I meet people who associate our music and 'Blueprint' with beautiful, valuable experiences or formative events. The fact that we have achieved something very special together and that we are now reuniting on stage for the first time in 40 years is truly a reason to celebrate with our fans!"
Ulrike Haage:
"I'm delighted to be reviving this chapter once again with the Rainbirds. Playing this music live again is like entering into a dialog with my former self, full of emotion and joy of playing, and with all the musical experience that has come with it to this day. Everything falls into place"
Beckmann:
"It means a lot to me to be on stage with the Rainbirds again after 40 years... Since my last concert with the Rainbirds in London in 1989, this story has never really felt finished to me. Now it's come full circle and I'm really looking forward to flying with the band one more time, being on stage together and sharing these songs with everyone who's been with us all these years."
Rodrigo González:
"I still only have negative memories of the break-up 36 years ago. With my performance in the original line-up, I want to leave this dark phase behind me and replace it with fun and the joy of music. My wish is to close the circle and leave the past behind me to celebrate music with the Rainbirds."
