Rothenburg has a long Jewish history dating back to the 12th century. A special historical site can be found in the Judengasse, where Jews and Christians lived side by side and together in the 15th century: house no. 10 is a "monument of national importance". In 2019, KULTUR ERBE BAYERN took care of this late medieval building with a mikvah and a wooden parlor and extensively restored it after it had stood empty for many decades and was in danger of falling into disrepair.
Rothenburg tour guide Karin Bierstedt and Dr. Sybille Krafft, both members of the board of Kulturerbe Bayern e.V., will accompany us on a tour of medieval Rothenburg, following in the footsteps of the town's Jewish history and showing us Judengasse 10. The mayor of Rothenburg, Dr. Markus Naser, will welcome us in the town hall.
There will be an opportunity to have lunch together.
