Murat Güngör and Hannes Loh have pieced together a story. The result is an exciting remix of rap, migration and empowerment, in which the ambivalent echo of six decades of Almanya resonates.

What does the music of the so-called guest workers have to do with the current rap sound? How did the whitewashing of an Afro-diasporic and transnational hip-hop culture come about in the 1990s? What ruptures and racist barriers make up the history of rap in Almanya? How does the logic of inclusion and exclusion work, which made non-male protagonists in rap invisible for a long time? And the most important question: Is there hope? Is there a utopian potential slumbering in post-migrant (hip hop) culture that can counter the current right-wing backlash?

Murat Güngör and Hannes Loh take their audience on an entertaining and humorous journey through 40 years of hip-hop and 60 years of migration history. In their lecture performance, they remix texts, songs, films and videos from 60 years of Almanya with personal experiences and social debates. They go through the forgotten years of hip-hop old school, shed light on the influence of reunification on the birth of "Deutschrap" and ask questions about class, race and gender in this surprising history of empowerment. Remix Almanya on stage is a breathtaking journey into forgotten spaces of German music and cultural history. Last but not least, it is the story of a long friendship between two people who have accompanied hip-hop culture since the 1980s as rappers, activists and authors.
