In the organizer's words:

On November 8, 1918, Ernst August Duke of Brunswick became the first monarch in the German Empire to abdicate - a workers' and soldiers' council took over the political leadership. The unity of the Residenzschloss and Schlossplatz was the central location of the demonstrations in the run-up to the revolution, the scene of the abdication on November 8 and ultimately also the place where the revolution ended again in April 1919 in the form of the rule of the Workers' and Soldiers' Council when the troops of the imperial government marched in.

What had led to the revolution in Brunswick in the days and months before November 8? What were the consequences of the abdication for the city and the Duke's family? Based on the historical context, this themed tour will focus on the events in Brunswick around November 8, 1918.

The number of participants is limited and participation is only possible with registration. Spontaneous participation is only possible if there are still places available.
