Events during the night, dangerous thoughts while half asleep, repressed memories. Also visions, daydreams and illnesses. It becomes surreal at the Ωrt of writing. Because on February 28. 2026 it's that time again. There will be a competition. Only the best texts will be presented, and the three-member jury will once again have to decide on-the-spot - who will win? Who will pick up the chest?

Participation:

Submissions in German with a maximum of 1,700 words by February 6, 2026 to
ortdesschreibens@gmail.com. The selected best 6 texts will be read aloud by the authors on the evening of the event. The jury, which has never seen them before, will then decide the winner on the evening. Please bring another copy of your text for the jury table. Participation is free of charge.

Prize:

First place will receive a box containing three items chosen by the judges. And for all appealing stories, a place on the ortdesschreibens .de website. Long live literature.

Ruben Maria Granz, born in 2001 and spoiled by the internet, is a writer and froth-monger. He does the moderation.

Jury:

Alwon Barni, born 1998 in Berlin. Studied library science in Potsdam. He was a librarian in the parliamentary library of the Brandenburg state parliament. Despite his deep connection to the big city, he has remained a country boy, vacationing in Franconia. As a juror, he says he awards prizes to the best, the most profoundly moving or the most stylishly polished. Let the games begin.

Lorenz Höppner, born in 1991, is a cinematographer and Germanist. He calls for the courage to tell tragic stories and for the all-too-human to be given a voice. The world is absurd, but the gestures it performs are beautiful.

Rebecca Tanner, 20 years old, has written several short films herself, in which she interweaves psychological abysses with our modern everyday life, as well as the call of the fatal. It was precisely this affinity for the hidden depths of every fate that drove her to plunge into the study of psychology. She is not easy to inspire. Will your texts stand the test of time?
