Salon Larry Porter

Larry Porter is considered one of the most respected jazz pianists currently performing in Germany. His professional career spans five decades. He is known for remarkably inventive improvisations in his performance of standards and original material. He attaches great importance to maximum interaction with his fellow musicians. Max Leiss and Ivars Arutyunyan make it all possible by adding their amazing talent and unique voices to the mix.

Saxophonist Peter Weniger captivates with his wonderful tone and creative improvisational skills. He has been one of the greats of the German jazz scene for decades. High emotionality and brilliant virtuosity characterize his musical statement. He has been a professor at the Berlin University of the Arts since October 1999 and was artistic director of the internationally renowned Jazz Institute Berlin from 2005 to 2019.

The quartet presents an exciting program: In the first part compositions by tenor saxophone legends and in the second part compositions by Larry Porter.

A visit to the current exhibition "Traces of the Body" is included in the ticket price.

The exhibition:
The exhibition "Traces of the Body" is the first solo exhibition in Germany by US artist Kylie Manning. Her large-scale paintings move between figuration and abstraction. At Villa Schöningen, these works enter into a dialog with art historical positions such as Marina Abramović, Anselm Kiefer and others. Together, they open up new perspectives on visibility, memory and the representation of the human body.
