Talk at Salon Luitpold - John Neumeier's revival of the ballet "Lady of the Camellias" with Christoph Gaiser and Christian Gohlke

Alexandre Dumas' epoch-making novel La dame aux camélias (1848) became the basis for the opera La traviata and countless films. John Neumeier created his ballet version of the material in 1978 for Marcia Haydée and the Stuttgart Ballet. In 1986, he also directed the film version of this successful ballet, which has also been in the repertoire of the Bayerisches Staatsballett since 1997. In May 2026, the piece will now be revived after an almost six-year absence from the repertoire.

In conversation with host Christian Gohlke and Christoph Gaiser, dramaturge of the Bayerisches Staatsballett, the aim is to explore the opportunities and challenges that John Neumeier's captivating work concept offers for the dancers and musicians involved.
