In the organizer's words:

Based on the current exhibition of works by Gerhard Hoehme, the workshop is dedicated to the exciting question of the boundary between painting and object.

The focus is on a simple but versatile material: string. What can a string do when it is understood as a line? When it is laid across the picture surface, stretched or dipped in paint?

By experimenting together, we explore how string can become a trace, a line and a structure. When does it remain part of a picture - and when does it begin to act as an object in space?

Participants are invited to experiment with string, color and various techniques and to develop their own works that move between picture surface and object.
