Ten years of sonic frenzy, magic and unbridled energy: the award-winning shooting stars of Shake Stew (Amadeus Music Award, German Jazz Prize) have been causing a sensation on the jazz scene for ten years - and for their anniversary, they are going one better: In a brilliant live show, they present the first two parts of their new triple album TEN ONE TWO THREE and show once again why their concerts have long enjoyed cult status.

Hardly any other band has turned the Central European jazz scene on its head like Shake Stew in recent years. While ZEIT described them as "Austria's jazz band of the hour" and NDR elevated them to the status of a "cult band" early on, it has been clear ever since they won the Amadeus Music Award 2023 and the German Jazz Award 2021 in the "Band of the Year International" category that something has been set in motion that has never existed in this form before. And it shows no signs of slowing down!

2026 now marks their 10th anniversary - and it wouldn't be Shake Stew if they didn't celebrate it with a musical spectacle: the three-part album project TEN ONE TWO THREE. The first two parts with exclusively new music will be released in spring, the third will follow in the fall. The band is also opening a new chapter in its anniversary year in terms of personnel: Yvonne Moriel, one of the most exciting newcomers on the scene, joins the band and gives Shake Stew a fresh sound.

From the very beginning, the formation, founded by bassist and composer Lukas Kranzelbinder, has been surrounded by something mystical, which in live concerts ignites an immensely evocative effect that few can escape: "The unspoken magic words are magic and energy - Shake Stew brings something cultic to contemporary jazz, an enrichment!" writes the German Record Critics' Jury in its justification for the inclusion in the 2020 list of the best and the British magazine MOJO is even more physical: "Able to blind you into a trance and make you dance to your knees, Shake Stew twists, blisters and burns like a fevered dream!"

Despite their unusual line-up of two drums, two basses and three horns, the band always manages to catch their listeners of all ages in an incredibly direct way - whether in a packed club or in the sold-out Great Hall of the Wiener Konzerthaus. "You don't have to like jazz to love Shake Stew: The band around Lukas Kranzelbinder is set for ecstasy from head to toe. Or to paraphrase Nietzsche: this is not music, but dynamite!" (Wiener Zeitung) Hypnotic soundscapes and driving rhythms have characterized the band's sound from the very beginning, but just when you think you've deciphered the magic formula of this musical stew, Shake Stew reveals the full sonic range of its unique instrumentation: On the verge of absolute silence, sound formations emerge as if conjured from nowhere, bubbling away on trance-like repeated bass lines and gong patterns, touching you at least as deeply in their calm and fragility as the preceding groove explosions.

"Something emanates from this band that is new and special - and incredibly attractive," wrote DIE ZEIT in its analysis, and after ten years, countless concerts from Europe to overseas and seven albums, one thing is clear: Shake Stew has long been more than just a jazz band - they are an event.
