Works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Richard Strauss and Hannah Eisendle

This year's resident artist Camilla Nylund takes to the stage in Stephan Zilia's last symphony concert as General Music Director - looking back and farewell are in the air, but not only! Richard Strauss's Four Last Songs, with their overcast and clearing mood, are a symbol of retrospection and farewell. The German premiere of an orchestral work by the young Austrian composer Hannah Eisendle symbolizes a new beginning, as does the performance by the concertmaster of the Lower Saxony Symphony Orchestra Hanover - Stefan Zientek - as the soloist in Ludwig van Beethoven's Violin Concerto, which was premiered in Vienna in December 1806 by violinist Franz Clement; as a Viennese critic noted: "excellent", full of "art and grace" and with "strength and security on the violin".
