silent green Open Lab #4: AV FREYA + Lily Beltane

In the organizer's words:

silent green presents

With silent green Open Lab, we are delighted to be able to establish a new format for young Berlin musicians who are taking their first steps onto the stage - beyond the pressure of expectation or market presentation.

Promoting young talent and revealing artistic processes is very important to us at silent green - and that's exactly what Open Lab is all about, which is deliberately not intended as a pure showcase, but as a space of opportunity: for the step into the public eye, for encounters, for resonance and further development.

Both solo acts and ensembles/bands from Berlin whose approaches not only demonstrate individual artistic expression, but also a desire to explore and transcend genre boundaries - between electronic music, improvised practice, pop, spoken word or performance - were eligible to apply.

AV FREYA
Berlin-based artist and producer AV FREYA combines the narrative depth of her singer-songwriter background with immersive electronic soundscapes.

Her experimental dream-pop interweaves ethereal vocals with soaring synths, guitar and playful rhythms to create a tapestry of sound that harmoniously blends the boundaries between organic and digital spheres.

With influences from left-field, ambient and avant-pop, her music moves between futuristic edges and familiar nostalgic warmth.

At the heart of their productions is a deep fascination with sound design - using multi-layered sonic textures to explore themes of healing, critical self-reflection and the power that comes from vulnerability.

Grown from electronic experimentation and pop sensibilities, their music opens up spaces where softness and distortion merge.

With their forthcoming debut EP NOT THE END , AV FREYA is ready to bring a breath of fresh air to Berlin's alternative pop scene.

Lily Beltane
When Lily Beltane is on stage, her voice seems to float above the guitar chords. Her timbre is reminiscent of singers like Joni Mitchell or Linda Perhacs from the 70s, but her songs already bear her own signature: dreamy verses flow into dynamic choruses and take the listener on an emotional and thoughtful journey.

In addition to acoustic arrangements, she has already experimented with string arrangements and electronic effects that complement her melodies. In her songs, the British-German newcomer uses words and language to explore questions of perception, describe asymmetrical relationships and process feelings such as speechlessness, love and competitiveness.

Small pop moments with catchy tune potential also bring lightness and strength to her often thoughtful and intimate music.
