Silke Eberhard Trio
Silke Eberhard - sax
Jan Roder- bass
Kay Lübke - drums
Founded in 2006, but with roots dating back to the mid-1990s, the trio has developed its own artistic language over the years. The intense relationship between the three can be heard in every note. The trio moves in the proud tradition of saxophone jazz trios and plays its own, highly original compositions full of musical mastery, improvisational intensity, wit and charm.
With Being-A-Ning, their fifth release on Intakt Records, the band continues on their path. John Sharpe writes in All About Jazz: "Together with bassist Jan Roder and drummer Kay Lübke, she has cultivated a connection that feels both intuitive and restless. Being-A-Ning, the group's fifth release - each bearing the word 'being' in the title - reaffirms this bond while pushing it forward. Although all three protagonists are well versed in the traditions, this does not limit them, but creates a platform for unexpected side paths."
Rigobert Dittmann (Bad Alchemy) adds: "Such a bold, lively form of being as the one celebrated here with the alto sax, itching in Roder's fingers, stirred up with sticks and shells, from which trout stream is it fished, from which fountain of youth is it conjured? ... Each piece is a hidden object from the land of milk and honey, the style if not exhilarated then laconic or spun, the appearance as changeable as an octopus."
