Jazz Echoes
Six voices, one continent: modern jazz a cappella from Prague

SKETY are six young Czech jazz singers and musicians who are fully committed to the contemporary scene. In 2014, the group won the prestigious Ward Swingle Award (jazz category) at Vokal.Total in Graz. In concert, they will present a program inspired by contemporary Czech composers as well as global jazz influences. A special highlight on this evening: for the second time since 2019, the a cappella week will be a guest at the jazz club, collaborating with the Hanoverian jazz institution - a musical rendezvous that will delight both young enthusiasts and long-time jazz fans.

Since the release of their debut album "Skety" in 2015, the group has established itself as a permanent fixture on the European a cappella scene. Each member also maintains their own solo and big band projects, creating a network of creative impulses together. They have already recorded with renowned artists, made live television appearances and demonstrated their versatility in clubs, concert halls and at festivals. Their mission: to bring the music they love to life - in every note, in every breath.

Since 2001, the Hanover International A cappella Week has been inspiring the lively choral scene in the city and its surroundings for almost a quarter of a century. Founded by Sandra van de Loo and Roger Cericius, the festival quickly developed from a one-off event to an annual highlight, only taking a break in 2020/21 due to the pandemic. Every year, established greats of the a cappella world meet up with up-and-coming newcomers and present themselves and their skills in concerts that could not be more diverse. Exciting workshops and master classes during the festival also give rise to new musical collaborations that enrich the regional cultural landscape in the long term. To date, over 200 concerts with several thousand international artists have been presented, delighting around 100,000 visitors from all over the world. As one of the two leading vocal festivals in Germany (alongside Leipzig), the Hanover International A Cappella Week is regarded internationally as a beacon of the scene.
