Sport - one topic, two layers of time. Both in the Jewish displaced persons camp Föhrenwald and in the later displaced persons settlement Waldram, physical activity played a central role in the sense of community and the new start in everyday life.
However, the backgrounds and motivations were very different in the two periods. In addition to general physical activities in the respective time periods, the multimedia and interactive exhibition also includes biographies of individual athletes. The focus is on topics such as sport as a means of survival, as a motor for integration and tolerance.
In addition to organized physical exercise, the exhibition also looks at unofficial, spontaneous sporting activities. It looks at the 1954 Football World Cup, the sports infrastructure and equipment and the importance of physicality for Holocaust survivors and displaced persons.
