Sonderausstellung "IndustrieInsekten. In einem unbekannten Land"

In the organizer's words:

Dazzling colors, strange shapes, amazing abilities: Insects are fascinating. There are over one million known species worldwide. The earth's ecosystem is kept in balance by what they do. But many insects are threatened with extinction. Today, insects are finding new, different habitats at the LWL Museums of Industrial Heritage. Ute Matzkows and Klaus Rieboldt were out and about there. Their photographs allow encounters at eye level with the "industrial insects": this opens up special perspectives on nature. Why are insects important? How do they influence our shared environment? What can and must we do for their survival?

The exhibition is complemented by an accompanying exhibition. Under the title "Of industrial insects and metamorphoses", eight cooperation partners have explored topics such as mine closures, structural change, insect diversity and insect extinction in different ways. The creative works range from recreated insect models and films to self-painted pictures and VR experiences.
