Berlin's independent performing arts scene is as diverse and large as the city itself. So it's high time to dive in and get to know the people and places of this scene (anew)!
From September 10 to 21, 2025 , SPIELRAUM offers the opportunity to get to know the independent performing arts community from a different perspective - with around 50 events that invite people to meet, participate and reflect together alongside the performing arts. Very different formats open up new perspectives on both the art and the venues of the independent performing arts community, understood as places of exchange and with the potential for social transformation. SPIELRAUM also builds bridges to unusual venues such as neighborhood homes, punk clubs and shopping malls.
SPIELRAUM is not a curated festival, but offers a program of audience and community formats designed jointly by the scene. This year's highlights include A theater workshop at the Nachbarschaftsheim, an open day with a circus jam, venue tours, open rehearsals followed by discussions, a potluck encounter format, a forum theater performance, a multisensory play for visually impaired children, various dance and movement workshops, a theater converted into a gym, a gym converted into a theater space and an open-air music theater happening.
Our opening ceremony will take place on September 10, 2025 at 6:30 pm at the Globe Berlin.
