Spurensuche in Stein, Holz und Ziegel

Hanover can be told not only through dates and events, but also through materials. This CityWalk therefore focuses on the materials in the city: stone, brick, wood and metal as material witnesses to history.
On the walk together, participants learn to "read" buildings and urban spaces. What traces have been left behind by use, repairs, destruction and reconstruction? How do materials change over the centuries? And what do these changes reveal about everyday life, technology and social values of times gone by? The tour leads to the Marktkirche and the Old Town Hall, among other places, and deliberately focuses on details that are often overlooked in passing - traces of workmanship: in the stone, different brick formats, repair areas, material changes and breaks.

The CityWalk combines city history, architecture and restoration perspectives. It is aimed at adults who want to discover Hanover with a new perspective on the city's material memory.
