For ten years, SOS MEDITERRANEE has been there where hardly anyone else looks: on one of the world's deadliest escape routes. Ten years in which 42,741 people have been rescued on the central Mediterranean and escorted to a safe haven in Europe, while European states have failed to live up to their responsibilities. Our photo exhibition provides deep insights into this work. In 25 moving images, we not only show the rescues themselves, but also the people behind the numbers - moments of despair and relief, care and cooperation as well as joy and hope for a life in peace and safety. The exhibition invites you to take a closer look and see civil sea rescue for what it is: an expression of solidarity and humanity.
