Wolfram Weimer recently outlined a gloomy scenario at the book fair. AI could "shred the world of literature", said the Minister of State for Culture in Frankfurt. He considers the actions of tech companies from China and the USA to be "intellectual vampirism." The publicist and publisher has been in office since May 2025.

His goal is a digital tax to finance the creative and media landscape. He has Internet companies such as Google and Meta in his sights.

The Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media was also critical of public broadcasting. The broadcasters appeared to be "leaning to the left".

Weimer has also had to take a few knocks himself. In the cultural sector, he is considered by some to be too inexperienced and "ideological". Before his political office, the journalist was a frequent guest on political programs, including "Studio 9 - Der Tag mit...".

Wolfram Weimer founded the magazine "Cicero" and was editor-in-chief of "Welt" and "Focus". Most recently, he ran his own publishing house, the Weimer Media Group.
