The Stetson University Orchestra is made up of members of the university symphony, chamber and opera orchestras. During the four-year course, the students develop a representative repertoire that covers a cross-section of the orchestral repertoire from the 17th century to the present day. This includes works by Baroque composers such as Bach, Corelli, Geminiani and Handel, symphonies by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Schumann, as well as works by Bernstein, Britten, Chabrier, Debussy, Elgar and Grieg.
The operas performed include Candide (Bernstein), La Clemenza di Tito (Mozart), Die Fledermaus (Strauss), Hänsel und Gretel (Humperdinck) and L'Italiana in Algeri (Rossini).
The orchestra is dedicated to performing contemporary music by internationally renowned composers as well as Stetson University students. The ensemble enjoys touring throughout the United States and Europe and has performed in England, Wales and Italy. The students, under the direction of their conductor Anthony Hose, are already looking forward to their trip to Germany to delight their guests in Berlin and Halle.
