An interdisciplinary discussion on philosophy, art and architecture

What does it mean to believe today? Beyond purely dogmatic interpretations, the concept of faith represents a fundamental constant of human self-understanding, as trust, as orientation or as an aesthetic experience.

On this evening, philosopher Peter Sloterdijk and conceptual artist Mischa Kuball will take a joint approach to this complex topic. The encounter will be moderated by WDR journalist Claudia Dichter.

About the dialog

Peter Sloterdijk, whose cultural-philosophical analyses regularly shape social debates, meets Mischa Kuball, whose works focus on public space and the perception of light and transparency. The discussion builds a bridge between theoretical reflection and artistic practice and questions the significance of faith in an increasingly secular but crisis-ridden world.

The place as context

The event will take place in the Church of Christ's Resurrection in Cologne-Lindenthal. The building by Gottfried Böhm is considered one of the most important examples of Brutalism. With its sculptural design language of exposed concrete, the space not only offers exceptional acoustics, but also forms the architectural framework for an examination of transcendence and materiality.
