The Ellipses – gap, data loss, skip and guests - with Vinyl-terror & -horror (23.4.) and Mieko Suzuki (26.4.)

Two performance evenings dedicated to the connecting instrument, the turntable, at Tanzhalle Wiesenburg, Berlin with The Ellipses (JD Zazie, Claudia Schmitz) and guest artists Mieko Suzuki and Vinyl-terror & -horror.

In a congenial crossover of analog and digital gestures, of rotations that regularly appear to be unhinged, clear and open narratives with gaps, sound and moving images, the artists pose questions about the culture of memory, data archiving and the meaningfulness of media boundaries and temporality, technology and human experience. By questioning their own perspectives and searching for new references, they confront their own fallibility and expand their own perception through collective experience by developing a common new transmedia language and presenting its legibility to the audience for discussion. The subtitle gap, data loss, skip is deliberately aimed at the transdisciplinary significance of ellipses and related themes such as freedom of communication, cultures of conversation, cross-genre translation and the questioning of media boundaries.
