The Fiery Furnaces

The Fiery Furnaces, the longtime collaborative project of siblings Eleanor and Matthew Friedberger, reunites for a series of performances as a stripped-down duo. Known for their dense, ambiguous lyrics and formally innovative compositions, the band occupies a unique place in the landscape of experimental pop. Without disdaining sentimentality, however, this reunion is less a nostalgic revisit than a continuation of their exploration of song form, song culture, storytelling and memory.

Formed in New York City in 2000, the band signed to Rough Trade Records and released eight critically acclaimed albums between 2003 and 2009, while touring extensively across North America, Europe and Australia. Last year, the band re-released their breakthrough album Blueberry Boat as a limited edition deluxe gatefold 2LP with the bonus track "Far Away". This year, the band is celebrating the 20th anniversary of their album "Bitter Tea" with a first-ever cassette edition. The Fiery Furnaces plan to reinterpret and expand their repertoire both live and as part of a new recording series called "Σκίτσα" (Sketches).
