Hot-rod rockabilly from Illinois, straight from the oil-smeared engine room of rock'n'roll: The Number 9 Blacktops don't deliver retro kitsch, but a raw, charged sound between classic rockabilly and dirty rock'n'roll. Inspired by icons such as Chuck Berry and the blues-driven coolness of ZZ Top, they combine 50s songwriting with modern force and snotty attitude.

On the road since 2005, they have played in over ten countries and covered thousands of kilometers in a van - always on the lookout for the next stage, the next sweaty club, the next drink.

Their sound: creaky Gretsch guitars, driving upright bass, straightforward drums - rockabilly that smells of burnt rubber instead of nostalgia. Fans of Stray Cats know the direction - just a bit wilder, louder and more uncompromising.
