It all began for The Sophs in September 2024, when singer Ethan Ramons sent the first demos to his favorite labels - including indie giant Rough Trade. Up to this point, this was not an unusual approach in today's music industry. However, the fact that Ramon was to receive a response from Rough Trade founders Geoff Travis and Jeannette Lee personally after just one day is not something even old music industry luminaries hear every day. Travis and Lee were immediately impressed by the band's creativity, relentless honesty and creative drive. According to Ramon, signing the contract felt like an "act of complete mutual trust". The first single "SWEAT" was then released in May 2025. In it, the group talks about the discomfort in the moment of a loss of control and thus deals with the question of power in our own emotional world. In the course of the song, Ramon's extensive voice breaks out until he is screaming at the top of his lungs. "SWEAT" is therefore not only reminiscent of legends such as The Strokes or Radiohead in terms of vocals, but also due to Ramon's charismatic appearance and the skillful interplay of the entire band. But the sextet is not a classic indie rock band. Ethan Ramon, Sam Yuh (keyboards), Austin Parker Jones (electric guitar), Seth Smades (acoustic guitar), Devin Russ (drums) and Cole Bobbitt (bass) are much more convincing with their love of experimentation: whether it's feeling musically at home in different genre categories, whether indie rock, pop punk or even funk, or being open to explosive changes of mood between loud and quiet. At the same time, they deal with serious topics and spirals of thought. Brutal honesty is one of the band's distinguishing features: giving space to intrusive thoughts before they get out of hand - that's The Sophs' credo. In their short band history, they played shows in their native West of the USA just one week after their label contact was recorded, followed by shows on the East Coast; in Europe, they won awards in London and Paris, among other places, in 2025. With their eagerly awaited debut EP "GOLDSTAR", The Sophs will be touring Europe again in 2026.
