Regina Neumann and Helmut Thiele take Viennese mentality lovingly and cabaret-style to task in a colorful kaleidoscope of lovable and bizarre, sentimental and crude, as well as clever and cleverly stupid characters, sometimes light-footed and tongue-in-cheek, sometimes with vulgar verve.
They include "people who want to be alone and need company" as well as those who are "in search of and on the run from their own ego", as Alfred Polgar wrote in his "Theory of Café Central".

An excellently seasoned literary Viennese mixture from the first half of the 20th century. It ranges from the satirical genre pictures of the imperial and royal military by Roda-Roda to Thomas Bernhard's lustful and intemperate nest-soiling orgies. Peter Altenberg with his "extracts" of the soul and of life is represented as well as Karl Kraus and Helmut Qualtinger. The "great predecessor in spirit" of all Viennese café literati, Johann Nestroy, is not missing either.

You can look forward to a mixture of literary cabinet pieces that skewer the zeitgeist and reveal the Austrian soul with a sharp pen and witty humor.
