Thy Catafalque are bringing their second headlining European tour to Germany in 2026 and will be playing their first show in Berlin on April 7.
Tamás Kátai's avant-garde metal project has only been on stage since 2021, and the number of concerts is correspondingly limited - the performance at SO36 is one of the band's rare live opportunities.

Thy Catafalque was founded in 1998 in Makó (Hungary) and combines avant-garde and extreme metal with Hungarian folklore, experimental rock aesthetics and distinctive electronics. Many of the lyrics are deliberately in Hungarian; themes such as landscape, history and time clearly anchor the music in Kátai s origins.
The current album "XII: A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek" (Season of Mist, 2024) follows on from its heavier predecessor "Alföld" and expands the sound to include more classical and acoustic instruments.
At the same time, the first four long out-of-print albums were reissued in 2024, further underlining the project's status within the Hungarian metal scene. Kátai performs the studio compositions live with a larger collective of guest musicians, most recently at European festivals such as Hellfest and Rockstadt Extreme.

Bong-Ra from Utrecht is the long-term project of Jason Köhnen (e.g. The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, The Lovecraft Sextet). Originally started as a radical breakcore and extreme electronica vehicle, Bong-Ra has been one of the defining names at the interface of metal and electronics since the late 1990s.
On the more recent releases "Antediluvian", "Meditations" and the 2025 album "Black Noise" (Debemur Morti / Tartarus), the focus clearly shifts towards industrial and doom metal, without abandoning the chaotic, glitchy electronics. Bong-Ra currently performs live as a trio with two guitarists and translates this hybrid into a very direct, metal-oriented set.
