20-year-old student Khalilou lives alone with his mother Rama in Dakar. She has cancer because she has used whitening creams for years in order to conform to the current ideal of beauty, as suggested by the models on billboards and on Senegalese television. One day, when he meets up with his best friend Abdel on the basketball court, Khalilou discovers a poster for the country's hottest beauty contest, "Miss Étudiantes". Khaliou makes a bet with his mother: if dark-skinned female students win the contest, she will take her life into her own hands and stop lightening her skin for good...

ADAMA BINETA SOW earned her MBA in project management before turning to film. In 2015, she directed her first short film AVEUGLÉ PAR UNE AVEUGLE, which became part of the official selection of the Espace Junior du FESPACO 2017. In 2019, she released her second short film À NOUS LA TABASKI, which was awarded the prize for best short film at the Fontenay-le-Fleury Women's Film Festival in Paris, among others. Her feature film debut TIMPITAMPA was presented at this year's FESPACO festival and received an honorable mention in the "Perspectives" section.
