TURNS ECO/EXO: WOLVES AND THROATS

WOLVES AND THROATS brings together one of the most important vocalists of our time, Elaine Mitchener (MBE), with percussionist and sound ethnographer Pedro Almiro. Mitchener explores the entire range of the voice in the dense field of electronic sounds. Almiro uses self-recorded wolf songs to create a composition that immerses us in the choirs of this species. Together they create a visceral ritual about human and non-human vocal chords, about the choir, the collective and the howl as a lament.

The new ECO/EXO cycle transforms central areas of tension in the present into immersive sound spaces and combines ecological fragility with speculative, extraterrestrial perspectives. Both artistic positions use space as an active compositional element and work with multi-layered electro-acoustic processes. The concert juxtaposes two different approaches to material, perception and time. Together, the works open up new auditory perspectives between body, environment and imagination.
