Sounding resonances
Works by Hans Zender, Chikako Morishita, Yu Kuwabara, Keitaro Takahashi and Mayako Kubo
Since the 20th century, new music from Japan has been caught between the adaptation of "Western" sound concepts and a return to its own traditions. Conversely, Japanese concepts of sound and traditions of thought have inspired European composers precisely because they have opened up an unfamiliar perspective on their own work. Klingende Resonanzen makes these mutual influences audible and illuminates the (supposedly) familiar in the mirror of the (supposedly) foreign.
