Isabelle's visit home does not go as expected. Her mother seems strangely absent and wants to get rid of her as quickly as possible. The young woman also learns, almost incidentally, that both her father and her cousin have recently died. As frightening incidents pile up in the almost deserted village, she uncovers a dark secret that gives a whole new meaning to the saying "back to your roots".

VEINS is a bizarre yet wondrously melancholy story that only slowly reveals its secrets amidst an ominous atmosphere. This makes the intimate body horror all the more disturbing, also thanks to its fantastic and long-lasting special effects. Despite being anchored in the present day, the atmospheric influence of H. P. Lovecraft or Mary Shelley's horror novels is omnipresent.
