A production by the Shake Company Zurich.
Binja and Samy have been trying to become parents for years. Despite attempts at artificial insemination, they were unsuccessful due to Samy's fertility problem. Her friends, Nico and Janosh, wanted to adopt a child of their own. But the authorities rejected their application. Over dinner, the couples come up with the idea of starting a family together. By donating sperm from one of the gay men, they hope to fulfill their wish to have a child together and create a rainbow family. The prospective parents are soon confronted with disturbing questions to which there are no easy answers. As Binja insists on natural insemination due to her traumatic experience with hormone therapies and inseminations, the four of them soon end up on the sofa bed to try to conceive...
Co-parenthood, surrogacy and artificial insemination: Roman Riklin and Michael Elsener bring topical and controversial issues to the stage with their comedy. With cunning ease, the authors ride their characters into increasingly impossible situations without taboos, until even the audience starts to sweat.
"Vier werden Eltern" is a turbulent play full of surprising twists and turns that encourages us to rethink the family setting.
