Björn Höcke is one of the best-known protagonists of the AfD and its so-called "völkisch" current. Drawing on approaches from critical theory and art history, the lecture analyzes Höcke's Instagram appearance and examines both the coherence and the contradictions of his political iconography. The focus will be on the aesthetic strategies of his self-staging as well as their intertwining with the historical image repertoire of the extreme right.
