Wachsende Stadt - Rundgang zu Fassadenbegrünung in der Innenstadt

Green façades have been a feature of Leipzig for over two hundred years - and are once again coming into focus today. In view of increasingly hot summers, they are seen as an effective instrument for climate adaptation and contribute to cooling, biodiversity and enhancing the cityscape.

As part of the special exhibition "Sun. Full. Summer in Leipzig", the Leipzig City History Museum, together with Ökolöwen e.V. and its project "Kletterfix - Green Walls for Leipzig", invites you to take a tour of Leipzig's city center. Historical examples of green façades will be presented, the various positive effects explained and common prejudices against climbing plants classified. Project manager Hannah Pilar Zimmermann invites you to think about façade greening as an integral part of a sustainable city.

The event takes place as part of the Leipzig Environment Days and is suitable for all participants who are interested in green façades but still have many unanswered questions. It is not necessary to register for the tour. Participation is linked to a visit to the special exhibition and regular museum admission. The exhibition ticket is valid once for the entire duration of the tour and can also be purchased at short notice before the tour.
