Water From Your Eyes are Rachel Brown and Nate Amos. Their new album is called "It's A Beautiful Life" (out on 22.08.25 on Matador / Beggars) and is a shimmering megalopolis, a view of eras and styles from outer space, an interpretation of the y2k songbook in the great void. "In the end, it's about time, dinosaurs and outer space," says Nate Amos. "And we wanted to incorporate all these styles in a way that makes it clear that everything is just a brief flare-up."
Since their Matador debut "Everyone's Crushed", which landed on the annual best lists of The New York Times, The Guardian, Rolling Stone, NME and Pitchfork, among others, in 2023, the two have become a pillar of New York's alternative music scene. They are joined live by guitarist Al Nardo and drummer Bailey Wollowitz. They have played with Interpol in front of 160,000 fans in Mexico City, among others.
It's a Beautiful Place is menacing and melancholic, it's wide-eyed and then wide-eyed again as if in shock. It's Blade Runner with a hint of WALL-E, Kubrick and Asimov with a little Jay and Silent Bob thrown in. It's songs that look outward, aware of our smallness and questioning our place in the universe while marveling at the infinite beauty of the surroundings.
